Chapter 01 - The Door

A brownstone, a blue awning, a sign that reads LOVE LABOOM.

It is not on a main avenue. You have to be looking for it - and most clients are. They come from Manhattan, Queens, sometimes further. They walk past the copper mortar on the stoop and step inside.

Built on privacy, defined by a boutique philosophy. - House Voice

Chapter 02 - The Room

Industrial Baroque, collected over time.

Edison bulbs in copper cage fixtures hang from an exposed wood ceiling. The walls are raw plaster, warm and uneven. Gilded baroque mirrors catch the light, alongside disco balls and small charms - evil eyes, coral beads, fresh tulips on the workstation.

Nothing is staged. Everything was gathered, over twenty-five years, because it belonged here.

Chapter 03 - The Mirror

A frame older than the salon. A face looking back at itself.

Every chair faces an ornate gilded mirror. It is part of the ritual. You sit, you settle, you see yourself - and then, slowly, you see what the next hour could look like.

Chapter 04 - The Cut

Precision mastered on Madison Avenue.

Matthew began with Bruno Pittini in the 1990s - the New York stylist behind images of Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve and Francoise Hardy. The French Technique he learned there is a method of cutting that creates volume, movement and lasting shape.

It is not a marketing line. It is the reason a cut from La Boom grows out beautifully, months after you leave the chair.

Chapter 05 - A Word

Hairapist

noun. A trusted stylist who treats the hair, the head, and the heart.

Long before the word existed, a Russian-language newspaper called Matthew "the psychologist with a comb." He listens. He notices. He works in a quiet room with calming incense and Latin melodies playing low.

The cut is precise. But the hour itself is the gift - an unhurried space to think, to laugh, to be heard.

As featured in Russky Bazaar, New York.
